Rice Lake Youth Baseball Wins $2,000
from AgStar Home Mortgage Services

AgStar Home Mortgage Services, a division of AgStar Financial Services, ACA recently held a Facebook contest, “You Make the Difference,” and gave away a total of $8,000 to three organizations whose volunteers submitted entries online.
The contest ran from Sept. 1 to Nov. 30, 2011. There were a total of 43 entries from volunteers with non-profit organizations throughout AgStar’s 69 county service area in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Volunteers submitted either a video or essay with a photo explaining how they’ve made a difference in their local community and why they deserved to win the $5,000 grand prize. The submission with the most “likes” on Facebook won.
The organization winning the $5,000 grand prize is Minnesota State University, Mankato’s Marketing Club with 359 “likes.” The second place winner of $2,000 was Rice Lake, Wisconsin’s Youth Baseball organization with 298 “likes.” The third place winner of $1,000 was Bone Builders, a Common Good RSVP program out of Faribault, Minn. with 159 “likes.”
The Rice Lake Youth Baseball group will use the funds to appeal to host the Little League state tournament. The tournament will bring a large crowd to the town, which will showcase it to many people who may not have otherwise seen it. The funds will also be used for equipment and park upkeep. Last year, more than 300 youth, ages five to 18, benefitted from the baseball program in Rice Lake.
“AgStar Home Mortgage Services is committed to giving back to rural America, just like our neighbors and friends who volunteer in our communities,” said Don Paulson, vice president of AgStar Home Mortgage Services. “We are proud to be able to contribute to the causes that others believe in and give back in our own way.”
